My name is Suhail Abbas and I am currently a senior at Culver City High School. I was brought up in a very religious Muslim society at home and school. Daily prayers were a must and I went to the mosque on a daily basis. I went to Islamic elementary school in SoCal and that experience has molded me into who I am today.

Having been brought up the way I was, I strive for equality of all religions and races and people. Because of my religious background, I have served as the Culver City High School's Muslim Student Association's president and in the 2016-2017 school year, I will serve as president again. As a part of this club, I've directed a video and been part of another video (they can be found in the blog). Apart from the club, I have also given speeches in multiple interfaith programs at King Fahad Mosque. I also help teach a Quran and Islamic Studies class at the same mosque.

About Me

My Heritage

I am a Burmese Muslim American and I love America and Islam as they both make me who I am today. My parents are from Myanmar (previously known as Burma). I was born and raised in California and I couldn't be prouder to be able to call myself an American. Although raised in America, I still hold onto my culture and religion. My Burmese background makes up who I am as well as being Muslim and although I'm the son of immigrants, that does not make me any less American as my peers all around me.

My Mission

My mission is to promote peace around the world by spreading love and clearing any misconceptions about my religion. Many people believe that Islam is incompatible with western society because it's "violent" and/or "oppressive". However, this is absolutely false. My mission is to do my part in clearing these false claims and to inform others about the real message of Islam.
